A message to the residents of Kennesaw

In 2007, our grass roots campaign reached out to every registered voter and provided information on our plans to “Build our Hometown” and take Kennesaw forward. On November 6th, the residents of Kennesaw voted and elected me as your future Mayor. Thank You, Kennesaw!

  Early Voting

Next Monday, December 31

Continues Wednesday - Friday, January 2-4

At the Ben Robertson Community Center on Park Drive between North Main Street and Watts Drive

Special Election - Tuesday, January 8th
at your normal polling place

Unfortunately, there was a technical mistake concerning 216 (officially updated on 12/10/07) of the approximately 14,000 registered voters in the city limits. Although some candidates campaigned in the apartment complex within the Ridenour development, and individuals from this group who attempted to vote on November 6th were able to do so, at issue was the fact that the voter registration card for this group did not list a precinct for municipal elections.

Since then, there has unfortunately been misinformation provided about the issue and my position on it .

  Please contact me directly at

election or my position on the issue.

This is a crucial time in the life of our city.  Every vote makes a difference in these local elections.  Please mark your calendar for the following dates and monitor the Cobb County Board of Election’s website at http://www.cobbelections.org for updated details:

Thank you again, Kennesaw, for showing your support for my goals and platform for the city and for choosing me in November.  Your support again in January is strongly needed and will be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

Mark Mathews

A successful three term council member, Mathews believes the time is right to seek the Mayoral position. “I have had privilege of serving you for 12 very successful years as a City Council member” Mathews commented, “but the City is at a pivotal point in its’ history – what occurs in the next five years in terms of how we deal with our most pressing issues will affect the quality of life for Kennesaw residents for the next 100 years.”

Mathews will “provide the vision and strong leadership necessary to not only improve and enhance the life of our current residents and business owners, but to chart a strong course for the positive growth of Kennesaw for the next century.” Mathews believes “our next Mayor needs to be able to work with other agencies and institutions both within and outside the city limits of Kennesaw to ensure that no opportunities for collaboration are missed. Partnering with Cobb County, Kennesaw State University, the City of Acworth or other cities or government agencies is vital to the long term livability of our community. We are no longer a small town able to operate in a vacuum thinking that forces outside the community are not shaping Kennesaw. We need to begin to think globally – we are all affected by the growth and development taking place around us and we need to deal with these issues together.”

Hometown means something different to everyone. To Mark, it’s the place he grew up, went to school, learned to drive, married the love of his life, decided to raise his family, and has dedicated the last twelve years to giving back to the community through his service on the Council. To some, it’s the place they have chosen to live and play. Whatever hometown means to you, we should be working diligently at improving and sharing the vision that makes “hometown” what it is to each of us.

When elected to serve as Mayor, Mark’s commitment to you is to continue, “Building our Hometown” by working to improve the quality of life for the residents, business owners, and youth of Kennesaw. If you have not been to a Council meeting please plan to attend several meetings over the next two months to get a better understanding of how Mark works, as well as how the City government operates. Talk to your friends, your neighbors and your co-workers. Get involved! You are welcome to call or email Mark with questions, comments or concerns. Be a part of “Building our Hometown!”
